21/06/11 - Fierce winds bring down trees in the Blue Mountains

Published: 21st June 2011

Fire crews in the Blue Mountains were kept busy today, as fierce winds brought down trees in the Katoomba area.

From 10.00 am Blue Mountains crews were busy as trees were brought down onto houses, cars, across roadways, and on top of powerlines.

Crews were responsible for securing the scene, and cutting up trees with chainsaws where possible. At one incident, part of the Great Western Highway at Katoomba was closed as the RTA organised for a dangerously hanging tree branch to be removed.
