19/06/11 - Smoke alarm alerts Ermington family

A recently installed smoke alarm alerted a family of two adults and three children to a kitchen fire and enabled them to escape unharmed. The fire occurred in a house on Victoria Rd at Ermington last night.
Firefighters were called at 9.16pm and were on scene within four minutes. The fire severely damaged the kitchen and lounge room, with the remainder of the house smoke and heat affected. The fire was contained within twenty minutes. Crews from Rydalmere, Eastwood and Silverwater attended the incident.
