A number of residential units in Wollongong were flooded with water when a fire sprinkler was accidentally activated.
Firefighters were called to Flinders Street in Wollongong this evening when the alarm system activated after a sprinkler head in a residential unit was accidentally knocked off. The unit suffered extensive water flooding and three units on the floor below were also inundated with water.
Twelve firefighters from three surrounding fire stations were on scene for close to two hours to clean up the large amount of water and replace the damaged sprinkler head. The cause of the accidental operation is under investigation
