Old theatre saved at KincumberQuick response by firefighters last night prevented the old Kincumber cinema in Avoca Drive from going up in flames.
Crews were called just after 5.00pm yesterday evening to several reports of smoke issuing from the old building. Firefighters from Kincumber were on scene within seven minutes and called for back up from Gosford firefighters due to the amount of smoke. Firefighters quickly put on breathing equipment and entered the building. They located a fire amongst storage boxes which was threatening to spread to the remainder of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and the smoke was ventilated from the building.
The cause of the fire which caused minimal damage is currently being investigated.
