18/05/11 - Heritage building fire at Parramatta

Early this morning fire crews were called to a restaurant fire in a heritage building in Phillip Street at Parramatta.

The fire appears to have started at the rear of the ground floor level and spread via a stairway to the second level. The hall, stairs and kitchen areas suffered extensive heat and smoke damage.

Twenty firefighters from five surrounding stations took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported and Police are currently investigating the incident.
