16/05/11 - Weekend fires spark another winter warning

Once again, the colder weather has brought with it an increase in residential fires. With the cooler conditions, people are using more electrical appliances, heaters, clothes driers, and cooking more hot meals.

Twelve families were impacted by fires over this past weekend.

Friday 13 May

1801 - Oven fire - minimal damage - Parramatta

2332 - Foodstuffs - minimal damage - Darlinghurst

Saturday 14 May

0030 - Blanket near heater - house extensively damaged - North Ryde

0400 - Pillow fell off bed onto heater - bedroom damaged - Waratah

0630 - Mattress near heater - bedroom damaged - Seven Hills

0800 - Fumes from heater - three people overcome and transported - Lalor Park

0940 - Laundry fire - Laundry and house roof damaged - Lisarow

1257 - Kitchen fire - minimal damage - Mt Annan

1810 - Chimney fire - damage to roof - Dubbo

Sunday 15 May

0021 - Foodstuffs - minimal damage - Bondi Beach

1317 - Foodstuffs - minimal damage - Granville

1404 - Laundry fire - minimal damage - St Clair
