07/05/11 - Car repair shop fire at Punchbowl

Just before 4.00pm on Saturday 7 May, fire crews were called to a fire in a car repair shop on Punchbowl Rd at Punchbowl. Crews were on scene within seven minutes and reported that the building was well alight.
Twenty five firefighters from six surrounding stations attended the incident and took an hour to contain and extinguish the fire. Punchbowl Rd was closed to traffic during the firefighting operations. Several surrounding buildings that came under threat were protected by firefighters. No injuries have been advised and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
