14/02/11 - Flooding at Warringah Mall

At 5.30 this morning fire crews from Manly were responded to flooding at Warringah Mall. On arrival crews found 40 shops that had been flooded by between 150 mm to 300 mm of water, and called for assistance. Other responding crews were from Narrabean, Dee Why, Forestville and Duty Commander North. The flooding came from a burst 300 mm water main, which was shut down by authorities, causing significant damage to shops within the mall. Fire and Rescue NSW crews were responsible for removing the water and mud, using our portable pumps, brooms, shovels etc. It was a long incident, with Fire and Rescue NSW crews committment finishing at 1130 am.
