22/01/11 - Major gas tank leak at Drummoyne

Today, the NSWFB processed 706 reports of incidents across the state. Highlights include:

Fire crews today attended a large leak of LP gas from an underground tank at a service station in Drummoyne. The tank contained 30,000 litres of compressed LP gas when a fault developed in a valve. Fire crews applied water sprays to dissipate the vapour cloud during the lengthy procedure.

Fire crews also responded to two house fires at Claymore and Belmont North (kitchen fire).

Fire crews responded to a shop fire at Bligh Park, a grass fire at Worrigee and BBQ gas cylinders alight at Broken Hill.

There were several Hazmat incidents today including significant incidents at Mt Kierra and Kembla heights. Firefighters also responded to five gas leaks across the state today. Firefighters also attended four incidents involving water leaks and six incidents involving snakes in houses.

Today Fire Rescue crews attended 25 motor vehicle incidents including serious incidents at North Richmond and Cabramatta.
