19/01/11 - Storm assistance at Macksville

Today, FRNSW processed 595 reports of incidents across the state. Highlights include:

This afternoon the township of Macksville was impacted by a storm. Local fire crews assisted in clean up operations including attendance at an awning threatening to collapse. The site was quickly rendered safe.

Fire crews attended six residential fires at Ermington, Balgowlah, Cheltenham, Bondi Junction, Windale and Broken Hill.

An electrical fire caused the evacuation of several hundred people from a high rise building at St Leonards. Firefighters extinguished the fire and rendered the building safe.

Fire fighters used chain saws to remove a tree which was in a dangerous condition at Emu Plains.

There were several Hazmat incidents today including 12 gas leak incidents and incidents at Port Botany, Port Macquarie and Unanderra.

Today Fire Rescue crews attended 47 motor vehicle incidents including incidents on the Hills Motorway at Macquarie Park, Pennant Hills, Ingleburn and a car into a brick wall at Blaxland.
