26/11/10 - Seven residential fires, one person rescued, two in hospital, three residences destroyed. Suspicious service station fire. Firefighters save nine puppies.

Today, the NSWFB processed 758 reports of incidents across the state. Highlights include:Firefighters were called to seven serious residential fires today.
Three residences were totally destroyed by fire at Ashmont, Bulli and Doonside. At the Ashmont fire a man who had collapsed inside the burning house was rescued by firefighters and conveyed to hospital for further treatment. At Bulli, a fire totally destroyed a three level house and resulted in a young male being transported to hospital with burn injuries. At Doonside, the residence was located above a second hand shop in Hill End Rd at Doonside and it took thirty firefighters from six surrounding stations about an hour to extinguish.
Firefighters rescued nine puppies after hearing whimpering coming from under collapsed debris at a residential fire in Kirwin Circuit at Hebersham. The fire caused extensive damage but firefighters were able to save the puppies after administering oxygen to the pups. Ambulance crews also assisted with the treatment of the puppies and they were handed back to the grateful owners.
Fire also caused extensive damage to residences at Moorebank and Dharruk and minor damage to a house at Lethbridge Park.
The kitchen of a restaurant at Rooty Hill sustained damage.
Firefighters were quickly on scene at a service station alight in Sandringham Street at Sans Souci this morning at 2.48am. Crews were on scene within seven minutes and reported the office and shop area was unoccupied and well alight. There were major fears regarding a container of LP Gas cylinders which was being directly impinged by the flames. Under the protection of hose sprays, firefighters moved thirty gas cylinders to safety. It took twenty firefighters about an hour to contain the blaze which caused severe damage to the office and shop area of the service station. There were several suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze which is currently under investigation.
Fire Hazmat crews spent several hours cleaning up a spillage of molasses which had spilt from a ruptured tanker on the Pacific highway at Heatherbrae.
Today Fire Rescue Officers responded to 40 motor vehicle accidents across NSW.
