Published: 2nd November 2010

Early this morning at around 1.15am firefighters were called to a row of three shops on fire on the great Western Highway at Wentworth Falls. A pizza shop, bakery and a real estate agency were extensively damaged by the fire which is currently being investigated.

Tonight, eighty firefighters from sixteen fire stations battled for two hours to control a fire in complex of four shops on Mulgoa Rd at Jamisontown. The shops were all retail outlets for camping and outdoor suppliers. A large evacuation zone was established around the area due to concerns of gas bottle explosions. The roof and a major wall of the structure collapsed at the height of the blaze. The cause is currently under investigation.

Brigades today also attended three residential fires at St Leonards, Cremorne and Granville.
