NSWFB participates in Sydney Open 2010

Published: 7th November 2010

Sydney Open is an initiative of the NSW Historic Houses Trust to showcase Sydney’s significant heritage buildings.  It includes both public and privately owned properties. On Sunday 7 November, the NSWFB is participating by opening 1 City of Sydney, one of the oldest fire stations in Sydney. The Historic Houses Trust (HHT) is keen to showcase the integration of the historic 1887 and 1907 buildings into the 2003 additions.

The ground floor of the heritage sections of the City of Sydney Fire Station, including the rear yards, will be open.  One of the small 1890 horse-drawn steam pumps and the 1952 Leyland Turn Table Ladders from the Heritage Fleet and other historical items from the Museum of Fire will form part of a heritage display.  Members of the NSWFB Retirees Association will assist the HHT volunteers with tours.
