27/10/10 - Forestville cottage destroyed and two in hospital after Darlinghurst fire

Published: 27th October 2010

The front of a two storied weatherboard cottage was totally destroyed by fire in Greenfield Place at Forestville today. Twenty firefighters from four surrounding stations were quickly on scene, however the house was already well alight when they arrived. There were fears that a neighbouring house may also catch on fire however firefighters were successful in containing the fire. No-one was inside the house at the time of the fire and the cause is currently under investigation. At Darlinghurst, two males were found unconscious in their unit after firefighters from two stations were called to smoke issuing from a unit in Darlinghurst Rd. The unit was smoke filled due to foodstuffs left unattended on the stove. The victims were removed by firefighters and treated and transported by ambulance crews. Fire damage was minimal.
