Published: 28th October 2010

Firefighters today attended house fires at St Helen's Park, Campebelltown, Newtown and Barrack Heights. Two of these fires were caused by foodstuffs left unattended on stoves and one of these fires resulted in two people being transported to hospital suffering smoke inhalation. A caravan was totally destroyed by fire at Norah Heads. Firefighters at Penrith were kept busy with an unidentified powder in an envelope within a mail room of a Government Building in Henry Street. 800 workers were evacuated from the building as a precaution whilst the premises was checked. The substance was removed for further forensic testing and no injuries were sustained.
