Emergency services united on Triple Zero

Police, Fire and Ambulance services and Emergency Services Minister Steve Whan have reminded the public that Triple Zero (000) is the number to call in an emergency."Triple Zero is Australia's emergency call service number," Mr Whan said.
"It is the way to get the right emergency service to help you during life-threatening and emergency situations."
Mr Whan said next year would mark the 50th anniversary of Triple Zero as Australia's national emergency number.
"Emergency services nationally have been promoting 000 through campaigns such as the 2007 National Triple Zero campaign, this year's launch of the Triple Zero Kids' Challenge and the release of special emergency services Australia Post stamps featuring 000."
"These campaigns have targeted key at-risk groups such as children and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds."
Mr Whan said it was important when calling 000 to give the call-takers as much information as possible.
"When calling 000 the key message is to stay focused, stay relevant and stay on the line," he said.
"Make sure you know your address, a contact number and any key landmarks that will help emergency services locate you."
