Firefighters and SES to take part in Australasian rescue competition

Minister for Emergency Services, Steve Whan, sent the NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) and the State Emergency Service (SES) a good luck message as their two respective teams prepared to compete in the Australasian Rescue Challenge in Melbourne from 25 – 27 July."These fire and emergency service workers from across NSW were invited by the Victorian State Emergency Service to take part in the Australasian championships, and they have been in training for many months to take on the best emergency service workers from across the region.
"They will be judged in a number of physical events, including an Entrapped Rescue with mannequins trapped in cars to test a variety of skills.
The Rescue Challenge provides emergency service workers with the opportunity to practice and develop their skills, and demonstrate to the community and their peers their professionalism and expertise.
"I wish both teams the best of luck and I’m sure they will make NSW proud," Minister Whan said.
Minister Whan said that the event is a good chance to see what emergency service workers do.
"Rescue challenges such as this mean that members of the public can get an up close insight into what our emergency service workers do and I hope that the community really get behind all of the teams competing.
