Unit fire at Blacktown

Fire officers from Blacktown, Seven Hills and Huntingwood responded to a unit fire in Reservoir Rd, Blacktown early this morning. Upon arrival, they discovered a unit was totally involved in fire and it was threatening to spread to the one next door. The firefighters quickly started attacking the fire with three hoselines and extinguished it before it could spread. This fire highlights the value of a working smoke alarm. The elderly resident escaped from the fire because his smoke alarm woke him up. After the fire was extinguished, the firefighters were able to locate and remove the resident's war medals for which he was extremely grateful.
