Restaurant Fire at Surry Hills

Fire rescue officers from Redfern, Alexandria and the City of Sydney responded to reports of an explosion and fire at a shop in Cleveland St, Surry Hills late this evening. The first arriving crews discovered a restaurant that was already severely damaged by the explosion and fire. The fire was quickly extinguished with hoses and a search revealed four residents had already self evacuated from the premises upstairs. One of them was treated by ambulance personnel and conveyed to hospital.
