House fires in Blacktown, Oxley Park, Fairfield and Sandy Beach. Car fire in Eastern Distributor

Fire crews were kept busy in Sydney and the North Coast throughout the day and evening. A fire in a shop in Blacktown in the early morning was followed by a kitchen fire in Oxley Park, and later a house fire in Fairfield. A taxi fire in the Eastern Distributor southbound during peak hour was extinguished by the tunnels sprinkler system, before fire crews finished extinguishment with their hose reel. The taxi was extinguished and cleared in approximately 30 minutes. Meanwhile a house fire in Sandy Beach on the North Coast had Fire Brigade crews in attendance for up to 5 hours, and was extinguished using 2 hose lines and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus
