Charlestown house saved, Dolans Bay house destroyed

A house in Dickinson St, Charlestown was saved by firefighters at around 1.30am this morning when a faulty fireplace in an adjoining room set fire to a kitchen wall. A second house in Gannons Rd South at Dolans Bay was destroyed by a fire which was reported at 7.18pm this evening. Twenty firefighters from four surrounding fire stations took several hours to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately no-one was injured and the fire is currently being investigated.
