King Park scrap yard fire and electrical fire at Balmain

Today, firefighters extinguished a fire in a scrap metal yard in Tattersall Rd at King Park. The fire took hold amongst several hundred crushed cars at around 2.00 pm and it took 20 firefighters from four fire stations about four hours to extinguish. Three crews also extinguished a fire in an electrical susbstation in the grounds of the Sydney Secondary College in Balmain at 3.00pm today. 550 students and staff evacuated safely during the incident.
