Today, firefighters prevented a major factory fire at Villawood by quickly attending and extinguishing a fire which had started in an external hopper and was threatening to spread through ducting into the interior of the building. In other incidents, an electrical fire in a fuse box caused a small amount of damage to a house in Dubbo whilst a woman was transported to hospital after inhaling smoke from a kitchen fire which started in an oven at Broken Hill. A house at Bathurst sustained extensive fire damage from a fire which firefighters were able to contain to the kitchen and laundry area. A small electrical fire involving a dishwasher forced the evacuation of children and staff from a child care centre at West Ryde. Fortunately no injuries were reported.
