Maitland - Cafe destroyed

A cafe known as Butter Cafe in Bulwer St, Maitland was destroyed by fire earlier this morning. Fire fighters were called at 1.28am to the two levelled building which contained three shops and upstairs offices. Firefighters from Maitland, East Maitland, Telarah, Morpeth, Kurri Kurri and Mayfield West were successful in preventing the fire from spreading to several adjoining shops, however the cafe was destroyed and an adjoining shop and upstairs office sustained smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
