Thornleigh - House fire

Fire crews from Beecroft, Castle Hill and Hornsby were called at 4.49pm today to a house fire in Nicholson Avenue at Thornleigh. Beecroft firefighters were first on scene and reported that a fire had taken hold of a laundry area on the ground floor of the two levelled brick house. The fire was quickly attacked by firefighters wearing breathing equipment and contained to the lower section of the house. Fortunately no-one was inside at the time of the fire. The lower floor was extensively damaged by smoke and heat. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
