NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) Commissioner Greg Mullins today announced the creation of a new position - Deputy Commissioner Corporate Services and Governance.

The creation of this position has been agreed between the Director General of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC), Brendan O’Reilly and Commissioner Mullins, who both say that the position will add significantly to the effectiveness of the NSWFB leadership group.

The need for this position was identified as part of the process established by the Minister for Emergency Services Steve Whan, to engage the Director General DPC to oversee and scrutinise the various actions that have been initiated to address a range of issues currently confronting the NSWFB.

Commissioner Mullins said that Ms Rosemary Milkins had been appointed to the position effective, Monday 29 March 2010.

"Ms Milkins has held a number of senior executive positions in the NSW public sector and most recently was the Assistant Director General Public Sector Workforce at the DPC.

"Ms Milkins will provide valuable support across a range of areas including finance, properties, strategy and planning, human resources, training and development and community safety.

"We welcome Ms Milkins to the NSWFB and look forward to working with her."
