St Mary's - LP Gas cylinder refilling facility destroyed

An LP gas cylinder refilling facility in Dunheved Circuit, St Mary's was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Saturday morning. The first Triple Zero calls were received just after 3.00am and first arriving fire rescue officers reported numerous explosions and flame heights up to 50 metres. A one kilometre exclusion zone in all directions was established and a total of 100 firefighters from fifteen surrounding fire stations were called to battle the blaze which wasn't brought under control for about four hours. The fire was finally extinguished at 9.30 on Sunday morning. Numerous gas cylinders, infrastructure, vehicles and buildings were totally destroyed. An adjoining furniture warehouse was also extensively damaged by the large blaze which is currently being investigated.
