Balcony Fire at Fairfield

At 2:35pm fire rescue officers from Fairfield, Cabramatta, Chester Hill and Parramatta responded to a unit fire in Hamilton Road, Fairfield. Upon arrival, they found a lot of smoke coming from a block of units. The smoke was coming from a fire on the balcony of a unit. The fire rescue officers were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it could spread into the unit and evacuate the unit block as smoke had spread through the units. There were two adults and three children in the unit at the time the fire broke out. They were treated by ambulance personnel at the scene before being taken to hospital.
