Earlwood - Residential unit fire

A residential unit in Homer Street, Earlwood was extensively damaged when a fire broke out at 5.13pm on Tuesday 16 February 2010. Fire Rescue Officers from Marrickville arrived quickly on scene within eight minutes and immediately entered the three levelled building and assisted eight people from the smoke filled building. Fifteen Fire Rescue Officers from Marrickville, Campsie and Arncliffe attended the incident. They located the fire in a second floor unit and extinguished the blaze. A total of twenty people were evacuated from the premises. Seven people were treated on scene by ambulance crews and four people were conveyed to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
