Fire on building roof - Edgecliff

At 7.40am on Monday 15 February 2010, the NSW Fire Brigades received several Triple Zero calls reporting that smoke was issuing from the roof of a three levelled building in New South Head Rd, Edgecliff. Darlinghurst fire crew arrived in less than six minutes and confirmed that a small structure on the roof of a residential building was on fire. The building was evacuated as Fire Rescue Officers from four surrounding stations extinguished the fire within thirty minutes. The small structure on the roof was destroyed however the remainder of the building escaped any major damage. The incident caused major traffic concerns for peak hour traffic heading into the city.
