UPDATED - Charges against current and former firefighters

Today, five current and two former NSW Fire Brigades (NSWFB) firefighters have been charged by NSW Police (Police) in relation to an indecent assault alleged to have taken place in a Sydney fire station in 1989. The firefighters are due to appear in court in March.When the allegations were raised in February 2009, the NSWFB immediately referred the matter to the Police and the Independent Commission Against Corruption. The NSWFB has assisted and cooperated fully with both agencies and the Police investigation.
As this matter is now before the courts, it is inappropriate for the NSWFB to comment further at this time.
