Building Fire - Arncliffe

A building used for the storage of machinery was extensively damaged by a fire which started at around 4.30 am on Friday 29 January. Fire rescue officers from six fire stations were called to Bonar Street in Arncliffe at 4.33am. Arncliffe fire rescue officers were on scene within seven minutes and immediately reported that the fire was well progressed through the top floor of the two level structure. Crews immediately concentrated their efforts on saving several surrounding buildings and were able to contain the fire within 30 minutes. The fire was finally extinguished by 6.30am with the top floor being severely damaged and the ground floor affected by smoke heat and water. Investigations into the cause are currently proceeding.
