Grass fire at West Hoxton

Published: 16th November 2009

NSWFB firefighters from Bonnyrigg Heights and Busby and local RFS firefighters responded to reports of smoke in the vicinity at McIver Ave and Twenty Seventh Ave, West Hoxton, this afternoon. Upon arrival, the firefighting crews found the smoke was due to a very large grass fire heading towards homes at McIver Ave. After liaising with each other, the two services both called for more assistance which included two helicopters for water bombing. Firefighting crews were positioned in McIver Ave to protect the properties that were under threat from the fire. The strong response from both services was successful in protecting the properties. The RFS issued an emergency warning due to the fire threat. This was revised to a watch and act as the fire was brought under control.
