Storm Damage at Mt Wilga Private Hospital, Hornsby

Published: 6th October 2009

The storm that passed through Sydney this evening caused significant damage to Mt Wilga Private Hospital in Hornsby. The first arriving crew from Beecroft were confronted with a situation in which several ceilings had collapsed due to damage caused by the storm. They called for assistance from other NSWFB units and then helped hospital staff in moving patients from the affected areas before commencing the work of rendering the area safe. The energy authority were called to isolate the power to the affected areas and Fire Brigade crews then finished pulling down the collapsed ceilings, mopped up the flood damage and provided emergency lighting until generators could be sourced.
