Dust storm

Published: 23rd September 2009

Today's dust storm has seen a dramatic increase in the number of calls received at NSWFB Comms Centres. Call numbers are approximately ten times the normal call rate. Most of the calls have been generated from Automatic Fire Alarms (AFAs), which have been activated by dust in the air. As is normal practice these calls are treated the same as any other emergency until it is determined by the firefighters that they are a false alarm.
