Fatal house fire Hamilton South

In the early hours of this morning, firefighters from Hamilton and Newcastle responded to a house on fire in Kemp St, Hamilton South. Firefighters arrived within six minutes to find a house well alight and immediately upgraded the response. Firefighters from Merewether and Duty Commander Newcastle were responded to assist. The fire was so intense that the firefighters had a battle to stop the fire from spreading to neighbouring houses. Tragically the bodies of two people were located in the burnt out house. Fire investigators are at the scene in an attempt to determine the cause.
