House fire Cessnock

In the early hours of this morning, firefighters from Cessnock and Bellbird responded to reports of an explosion in Dixon St, Cessnock. On arrival firefighters have found a two storey house well alight. Firefighters immediately called for more resources and firefighters from Kearsley, Abermain and Maitland responded to assist. Firefighters commenced an aggressive fire attack with hoselines. Despite the best efforts of the firefighters at the scene, the house and four cars were severely damaged in the fire. An LPG fuelled car had exploded prior to the arrival of fire crews. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
