Hardware fire Belmont

This evening firefighters from Belmont and Tingira Heights responded to an automatic fire alarm (AFA) at a large hardware store in Belmont. On arrival firefighters have found that the hardware store was full of smoke. They have immediately called for more resources. Firefighters from Newcastle have responded to assist. A fire was discovered in the electrical section of the store. The fire sprinkler system had activated which was assisting the firefighters with the extinguishment. Firefighters were able to restrict the spread of the fire to a 10 metre x 15 metre section of the store. The cause is being investigated.
