Gas leak Penshurst

Just before lunch today firefighters from Mortdale and Hurstville responded to a smell of gas in Penshurst St, Penshurst. On arrival the firefighters have identified a ruptured gas main creating a significant gas cloud in the area of the shops at Penshurst. Firefighters have evacuated approximately 100 people from the shops around the scene and ensured that all possible ignition sources were eliminated. The gas company was on scene very quickly and were able to stop the leak.
