House fire Lewisham

In the early hours of this morning firefighters from Leichhardt, Ashfield and Marrickville responded to numerous Triple Zero calls to a house on fire in Cook St, Lewisham. On arrival urgent assistance was called for due to the house being well alight and the risk of the fire spreading to neighbouring properties. Firefighters from Newtown, Glebe and Kogarah were responded to assist. All people from the house had evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire brigades. Firefighters carried out evacuations in the neighbouring houses due to the intensity of the fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and managed to save the neighbouring houses under difficult conditions. Canterbury Rd was closed to traffic during the firefighting operations. Fire investigators were at the scene at first light to commence the investigation.
