Building fire in Gilgandra

Late this evening crews from Gilgandra responded to a building fire in Castlereagh St, Gilgandra. Firefighters arrived to find a demolished building alight and the fire had spread to the adjoining chemist. Crews commenced an aggressive fire attack to stop the fire spreading to adjoining premises. Crews were hampered by rapid fire spread due to the common roof void and more resources were called. Crews from Delroy, Dubbo, Coonamble and senior officers from Dubbo responded also. The fire was extinguished with six shops severely damaged by fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
