Department store fire - Town Hall Sydney

14:50: Twenty firefighters and four fire engines were called to smoke in the Woolworths building, Town Hall this afternoon. The City of Sydney fire crew was on scene within two minutes and searched the heavily smoke-logged building. A fire was located in a lift on the third floor. The building was safely evacuated and the fire quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported and occupants were allowed to return to the premises around an hour later. Incident closed.
