Car fire underneath units in Guildford

Early this morning firefighters from Guildford, Chester Hill and Merrylands responded to a car fire underneath a block of units in Guildford Rd West. This caused the evacuation of approximately sixty residents with approximately ten people treated on scene and one transported to hospital with smoke inhalation. The fire was extinguished with two hose lines and the building required extensive ventilation. The remainder of the occupants were able to return to their units. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
