House Fire Menai

A working smoke alarm installed in the hallway alerted occupants to a fire in a bedroom on Archer Row, Menai this afternoon prompting occupants to call Triple Zero (000). Firefighters from Menai, Sutherland and the Duty Commander responded to the fire with the first crews on scene in seven minutes. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly contained and extinguished the fire in the bedroom. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire was an electric blanket.
