Unit Fire Girraween

Twenty residents were evacuated from an apartment building in Targo Road, Girraween because of a fire early this morning. Firefighters from Wentworthville, Seven Hills, Northmead, Merrylands, Smithfield, along with extended ladder platform vehicle from Parramatta and the Duty Commander responded to the fire. The first crews were on the scene in eight minutes. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly contained and extinguished the fire in the ground floor unit. The building was ventilated before residents were allowed to return to their units. One person was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
