Shop Fire Nemingha

In the early hours of this morning firefighters from Tamworth and West Tamworth responded to a major fire in a shop on Armidale Rd, Nemingha. The first crews on scene found large volumes of smoke issuing from a single level shop that was well alight. Firefighters found two gas cylinders being threatened by intense flame and heat from the fire. Quick action by firefighters prevented the fire from affecting the cylinders or spreading to the adjoining properties. Firefighting was very difficult due to the highly flammable contents of the shop. Crews brought the fire under control within two hours and the cause is under investigation.
