Unit Alight in Blacktown

Early this afternoon firefighters from Penrith, Seven Hills, Blacktown, and the Duty Commander responded to a building fire in Third Ave, Blacktown. Crews arrived to find smoke pouring from the rear of a block of units. Firefighters using breathing apparatus quickly contained the fire to the area of origin. After extinguishing the fire, firefighters ventilated the building, minimising further damage. There were no reported injuries. Ninety people were safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
