Published: 22nd May 2009

Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received this morning to a fire in a terrace house in Fowler Street, Leichhardt. Firefighters from Leichhardt, Newtown, Glebe, Drummoyne and the Duty Commander responded to the fire. The first crews were on the scene in seven minutes and found a fire in the roof of the single storey terrace house. Firefighters accounted for all of the occupants and commenced an attack on the fire wearing breathing apparatus. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished using hoselines, preventing the fire from spreading to adjoining houses. The attic of the house was severely damaged in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
