Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received early this evening to a fire in a restaurant at Darby Street, Cooks Hill. Twenty six firefighters on five fire appliances, including specialist aerial and hazmat appliances responded with the Duty Commander to the fire. The first crews were on scene in five minutes. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus contained and extinguished the fire which had spread from the rear of the building into the roof. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for fire spread. There were no reported injuries. Four people were safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
